Covered Bridges in Georgia at the Georgia Department of Transportation website.

This is a guide to the historic covered bridges in the State of Georgia. The purpose is to inform, educate and entertain people on Georgia’s few remaining covered bridges. In the middle 1990’s, the Georgia DOT used ISTEA enhancement funds to rehabilitate these bridges for future generations to explore and enjoy.

originally published in 1954, returned to print in 2003.

Horace King(b. 1807- d.1885) designed and built many of the surviving wooden covered bridges that still exist in Georgia, Alabama & Mississippi. I have seen several of his surviving bridges in North Georgia & North Alabama in person. They are really something to see if you like old wooden structures.
